Location BBC Bronson Battle Creek Title Patient Coordinator - Urgent Care Bronson Battle Creek Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures supports registration for all patients presenting to the Urgent Care, greets and assists patients presenting to the Urgent Care, schedules appointments, and collects copayments.
Performs a variety of routine duties specific to the assigned department.
Performs word processing duties, computer entry, maintains patient records, filing patient information and other related duties as assigned.
Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.

Patient Coordinator (Specific) Proficiencies:
Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting and helping them; supports registration and scheduling; and collects copayments.
Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
Greets and directs patients and visitors.
Directs new patients to meet with Records Coordinator to gather new patient demographics & insurance information.
Answer telephone, screen and direct calls, takes messages and provides information.
Assists callers in resolving problems when possible.
Pull charts to be seen the following day (check-in).
Work with records coordinator to ensure all pertinent tests and lab results are available for review.
Register patients (front desk), verify and update necessary information in the medical record.
Check patient out (check-out) (working with Medical Assistant) and provide patient with required paperwork.
Maintain work area and patient lobby in neat and orderly manner.
Communicate and cordially work with other staff to ensure efforts are coordinated and a high quality of service is provided.
Completes a variety of clerical duties such as setting up and maintaining patient records, photocopying, obtaining records.

Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes Contacts hospital personnel, and in some areas physicians and physician office staff, to resolve problems, clarify information and provide first-line contact for the department.
Works with other departments as necessary to coordinate patient care issues.
Other Proficiencies:
Proficiency in MS Office applications, including MS Word and MS Excel desired.
(Training available thru BBCH) Cross-trained to cover basic patient billing inquiries.
Maintains open communication with Clinical Operations Manager regarding front office responsibilities.
Maintains patient and organizational confidentiality.
Supports and abides by all Bronson Battle Creek Hospital safety policies and procedures.
Maintains professional appearance and attitude.

Uses correct body positioning, proper body mechanics to avoid injury, utilizes safe work practices (e.
