Depending on the unit needs could be placed on the following units.
We all see a good mix of medical patients and our specialties can be seen belowortho/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary, Surgical patients are GI, urology, hysterectomies, mastectomies.
Staffing Ratio 1:
6-7 for nightsOccasionally, ratios may flex to 8 patients but RN will be paired with LPN for support in these instances.
1:
8 ratio occurs rarely.
Less than monthly occurrence.
The RN and LPN work together to care for the 8 patients.
Variety of staff work on this unit and other Med/Surg units (i.
e RNs, LPNs, Techs, etc).
Floating depends on need- typically float to other units once per week roughlyOrthopedic-Neurology-Vascular Unit (C2 or NVU) is a 30 bed medical surgical unit specializing in the care of orthopedic surgical patients such total hip , knee, shoulder replacement and fractured hips - including non- surgical fractures such as pelvic fractures.
We also care for neurological disorders such as Stroke, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis and other inflammatory disorders.
Our last specialty is the vascular patient which includes procedures such as femoral popliteal bypass, stent placements after angiogram.
We also care for a variety of medical diagnosis as examples cellulitis, DVT and UTI.
We take a lot of pride in our unit.
We have strong teamwork on C2.
We strive daily to create an environment of safety and curiosity.
We have an engaged unit council that helps drive outcomes for our patients and their families.
