Duties include but not limited to:
Serves as Training Officer over all Police Service initial and continuing in-service training Schedules and conducts training of all required training, including the initial and ongoing weapons training, certifications and re-certifications, informal and formal Maintains current and accurate training records, reviews training records and coordinates scheduling of needed training with management Compiles and evaluates narrative and statistical data for special management projects and/or for data retrieval, analyzes trends, identifies training deficiencies Provide training on how to operate all Security CCTV and communication systems Serves as an alternate for the facilities Disruptive Behavior Committee Provides law enforcement as a federal Police officer Controls traffic Protects government and personal property Provides safety to patients, their family and overall facility populace to include civil rights Assures compliance with federal, local city, county and state laws, and rules and regulations pertaining to law enforcement work Restricts access, analyzes facts, questions victims and witnesses, distinguishes and properly classifies criminal and civil violations, informs individuals about their rights as suspects and/or witnesses; issues citations for observed violations of the law Arrests violators Writes correct and precise offense reports covering all incidents at the end of each shift Conducts in-depth investigations (short or long-term) involving larceny, assault, theft, contraband, drug violations, reports of survey Providing restraint for violators Serves as the Primary Armorer for the Service and ensures that firearms are maintained within factory specifications, provides advanced cleaning and repair, inventories weapons and ammunition Maintains a service/maintenance file for each weapon Designated Education Liaison for the Police Service with the Medical Center Education Department Reviews reports entered into the police report package for correct classification according to present requirements of the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-7 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Ability to orally present a variety of routine and complex law enforcement training related topics to a diverse audience Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
