Security Assistant

The incumbent receives routine and emergency telephone calls for assistance, dispatches police officers, fire fighters or medical personnel, and appropriate police/fire supervisory personnel via radio to meet the needs of the situation. Routinely interlace with external Public Safely Jurisdictions from the State, County and City as well as periodic communication with external 911/Emergency Dispatch Centers throughout the entire State of Michigan. Maintain communications and the flow of voice radio traffic among police, Fire and Medical Units operating in the field, during normal, emergency, or disaster situations. Monitor and operate Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) System. Work Schedule:
12 or 8 hour rotating shifts, Sunday through Saturday, to include weekends and holidays. Scheduled hours may be rotated or extended to meet the needs of the Veterans and the Medical Center Position Description Title/PD#:

No physical requirements as work is mainly sedentary in nature. Requires long periods of sitting while operating systems. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-05 grade level:
One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes:
providing security monitoring, dispatch services, and voice & data communication services. Use of approved radio techniques to assure proper radio procedures, operate facility switchboard, receiving, transferring, and handling callers requests. OR Possess four (4) years of successfully completed education above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business or technical school. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-05 level. Possess an equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet total experience requirements for the GS-5. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements:
Requires long periods of sitting while operating the CCTV, receiving telephone calls, and operating the police and fire switchboard communications systems. Additionally, long periods of keyboarding may be required to complete computer requirements and/or typing.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
